A two-time ABCA All-Region second team selection and two-time MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Year, Heaps has made his mark in several categories in the Blue Jay record book. On the mound, he ranks fifth all-time in single-season strikeouts (87) and is tied for 11^th in single season wins (8). The two-time first-team All-Commonwealth Conference pitcher is first all-time in program history in career innings pitched (264.2), third in wins (24) and strikeouts (246). Heaps was also named to the second-team All-Commonwealth Conference as a pitcher in 2007. In 2008, Heaps earned first- team All-Commonwealth Conference honors as a utility player.  In the batter's box, Heaps ranks 14^th in single-season hits (60), is tied for 10^th in doubles (16), and is tied for ninth in triples (5).
