Glenn J. Bruckhart '61 blazed a trail for future cross country runners at the College with a successful three-year career that saw him win 13 races, including six in 1959. In 22 races over three seasons, Bruckhart never finished worse than third.

Bruckhart's running career included eight runner-up finishes and a third. He was one of the first standout runners for Elizabethtown, which has built a rich tradition in the sport since he and his teammates laid the foundation for the program. Back when dual races were the standard and the Blue Jays were not yet competing at conference championship meets, Glenn, or "Stretch" to those who knew him, helped the College to its first winning season in 1958, just its third in existence.

Bruckhart, originally from Palmyra, Pa., also served as co-captain of the men’s basketball team for coach Don Smith during the 1959-60 season, in which he scored 275 points.
