Ira R. Herr Athletic Hall of Fame
Eric C. Smith, a 1992 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America First Team selection, was a four-year starter at center midfield during one of the best stretches of soccer in Elizabethtown College history. Smith scored four goals and added an assist in 1989 as the Blue Jays won the NCAA Division III national championship.
Smith went on to record 17 goals, 22 assists and 56 points during his career. He was a two-time All-MAC Northern Division First Team pick, and the league's Most Valuable Player in 1992. The Wilmington, Del., native was named to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team in 1991 and 1992, and received All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team Scholar-Athlete honors in 1991 and 1992 as well.
E-town won a pair of MAC championships (1990 and 1991), four regional championships and advanced to the NCAA DIII quarterfinals in each of Smith's final three years. During his career, the Blue Jays posted a record of 85-10-6.
