He'd been on the mat since third grade, but when Dane DeLozier arrived on campus as a freshman, wrestling wasn't in the cards. Luckily for the Blue Jays, DeLozier had a change of heart.

DeLozier joined coach Ken Ober's team during his sophomore year and promptly won 29 matches (11 pins). He capped his return with a fourth-place finish in the 177-pound weight class at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships.

One year later, DeLozier was standing on the podium in Augustana, Illinois, as an All-American.

DeLozier, the MAC champion at 177 as a junior, took eighth in the NCAA Division III Championships to become the 10th All-American in program history. He won the Mount Union Invitational and went unbeaten in dual matches (21-0-1) on his way to a 34-5-1 record with seven falls. DeLozier's 34 wins still rank 10th in a season all-time at Elizabethtown.

DeLozier's skill on the mat was matched by his smarts away from it. The Duncansville, Pennsylvania, native was the first Blue Jay wrestler to earn Scholar All-American honors from the Division III Wrestling Coaches Association, doing so in 1991, and was a CoSIDA/GTE Academic All-America nominee.
