An integral part of Elizabethtown College's 2001-02 national runner-up men's basketball team, Bob Porambo averaged better than 16 points per game and six rebounds per game as the Blue Jays made their deepest tournament run in program history and won a program-record 29 games.
Porambo was named D3hoops.com All-America Honorable Mention and D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team after leading the 2001-02 team in scoring (16.6 ppg), free throw percentage (.802) and blocks (26), and ranking second in rebounding (6.3 rpg) and 3-point field goals (58) as a senior.
A 6-foot-6 forward from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Porambo climbed all the way to 14th on Elizabethtown's all-time scoring list with 1,350 points. Porambo's .538 3-point field goal percentage (35 of 65) as a sophomore in 1999-00 is still a program single-season record and his 130 career 3-pointers made are tied for seventh in program history.
Porambo was a three-time All-MAC Commonwealth Conference selection, garnering First Team recognition in 2001-02 and Second Team spots in 1999-00 and 2000-01. He entered the Ira R. Herr Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the 2001-02 national runner-up team back in 2012.
