Sharp Lights Up Eagles in Blue Jays' Win

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Junior Lexie Sharp matched a career-high with 10 goals, leading the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team to a 23-10 win over Eastern Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 3-2 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 1-1 overall.

Sharps 10 goals ties the school record she holds along with Katie Foley. Senior Mirthe Berends tallied eight points with five goals and three assists while junior Kate Ziegler registered five points on two goals and three assists.

Eastern's offense was paced by junior Meghan Kosmides with four goals and two assists.

Tied at one, the Blue Jays erupted for a 9-2 run to end first half, taking a 10-3 lead into the locker room. Sharp tallied four goals over this stretch and Berends had three assists.

The Eagles continued to hang around, cutting the lead to six three times at the start of the second period, but Elizabethtown used another run (6-2) to stretch its lead to 10 (18-8) with just over 16 minutes remaining in the game.

The Blue Jays held Eastern to two more goals the rest of the way and tacked on five more for theirs third win of the season, 23-10.

Senior Caity Howell (3-2) made eight saves, including seven in the first half, for her third win of the season.

Freshman Libby Daniskas (1-1) played the majority of the game in goal, making 11 saves and allowing 18 goals.

Elizabethtown remains at home this Tuesday, Mar. 10 against Immaculata. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
