BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team held off Goucher's fourth-quarter comeback as the Blue Jays beat the Gophers, 14-12.
Abby Bach had a team-high five goals in the win for Etown.
Bach scored a first-quarter hat trick, including the game's first goal a player down. Elizabethtown led 5-2 after one period.
Megan Meyer and
Alyssa Golombeck and made 7-2 early in the second. Meyer scored the Jays' last goal of the half as they led 9-5 at the break.
In a lower scoring third quarter, Bach, Golombeck and
Drew Bridges each scored for the Jays. Bridges' goal came a player up.
The Gophers staged a comeback in the fourth, outscoring Etown 6-2, but the Blue Jays' lead was big enough and with an added two goals in the quarter, they held off Goucher in the end.
Alyssa Conner made six saves in goal and got the win for Elizabethtown.
The Blue Jays play at Moravian on Wednesday, April 22.
