Men's cross country headed to nationals!

NEWVILLE, Pa. — The Elizabethtown College men's cross country team had two in the top ten and four earn all-region honors as the Blue Jays took second Saturday at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional. The finish automatically qualifies E-town for the national championship meet next weekend, the first time the Jays will compete in the national meet as a team since 2011.

Zach Trama powered through the 8,000-meter course in 25:30.8 to place fourth, his best regional finish and second all-region performance of his career. Matt Shenk was not far behind his senior teammate, taking seventh in 25:38.6. Shenk got his All-Mideast Region honor.

A second pair of seniors also grabbed all-region honors for the first time as Sam Cooper was 21st in 26:03.0 and Ryan Conway was 22nd in 26:04.0.

Adam Harriger was the fifth Blue Jay runner to finish, taking 39th in 26:26.3.

Elizabethtown was second only to Haverford, the top-ranked team in the Mideast. Haverford finished with 67 points while E-town ended up with 93. The four all-region runners were the most since the team had four in 2010.

The men's cross country team will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships next Saturday in Winneconne, Wis.
