MADISON, Pa. – Down 4-3 with two matches to go, freshman Morgan Bleicher and sophomore Katie Hollen both won their single matches, helping the Elizabethtown College women's tennis team secure a 5-4 come-from-behind victory against Drew Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 3-4 on the season and in conference play, while the Rangers fall to 1-1 overall and in the league.
Bleicher was able to tie the match for Etown at #5 singles, topping freshman Taylor Dombalis, 6-2, 6-2, setting up the winner-take-all match at #6 singles.
Hollen did not allow the moment to pass her by, scoring her third win of the season with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over junior Katie Gangi.
Junior Kailey Caroland recorded the Blue Jays' other singles point at #1, beating sophomore Sanne Bloomendaal (6-1, 6-1).
Caroland and graduate student Lenea Riehl remained undefeated at #1 doubles this year, downing freshman Melina Christodoulou and Bloomendaal 8-2.
Scoring Etown's other point was freshman Kaylee Mustard and senior Ava Framm at #3 doubles, topping Gangi and Dombalis , 8-2.
