Women's Tennis Splits with King's (Pa.), Misericordia

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's tennis team edged King's (Pa.), 5-2 this morning but fell, 0-7 to Misericordia later this afternoon. 

Against King's (Pa.), Etown earned the point in doubles play as they won two of the three matches. Haley Bishop and Katie Balzano blanked the Monarchs at no.1 doubles while Mariia Yeni and Hannah Walker won, 6-2 at no.2 doubles. 

At no.1 singles, Bishop won in a thrilling three set match. Bishop won 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 10-8. Balzano fell 3-6, 6-4, 17-19 in a thrilling three set match at no.2 singles. Yeni defeated King's 6-1, 6-2 at no.3 singles and Walker earned the 6-0, 6-0 win at no.4 singles. Taylor Dukes won 6-1, 6-0 at no.5 singles. 

Against Misericordia, the Cougars swept doubles play to earn the point. Bishop and Balzano put up a fight at no.1 doubles but ultimately fell, 6-3. 

At no.1 singles, Bishop forced a tiebreaker but fell 6-4, 3-6, 7-10. At no.3 singles, Yeni fell 2-6, 6-6 (1-7). 

Etown will host Lycoming on Saturday to end conference play.
