TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown College baseball and men's lacrosse teams swept the Landmark Conference weekly awards, as seniors Andrew Fisher and Kelly Holdren, graduate student Tom Mahoney, and junior Alex Kilgour all took home weekly accolades, announced by the organization Monday afternoon.
Fisher and Holdren took home the honors for baseball, as Fisher was named player of the week and Holdren was named pitcher of the week. For the men's lacrosse team, Mahoney was named defensive player of the week and Kilgour earned offensive player of the week honors.
Senior Andrew Fisher finished the week batting .391 with five stolen bases, helping the Blue Jays to four wins, including the series victory over Catholic. Fisher compiled nine hits, a triple, and eight runs scored to fuel the Etown offense through six games. His highlight of the weekend was game two on Saturday when the senior went 3-3 with three runs scored and a stolen base. The Pottstown, Pa. native leads the conference in runs scored (17) and stolen bases (12) and is second in batting average (.426). It is the first player of the week award for Fisher.
Senior Kelly Holdren finished the week pitching 9 1/3 inning shutout innings, helping the Blue Jays to four victories, including a series win over Catholic. Against Juniata, Holdren pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. He one-upped that effort in Etown's final game of the weekend against the Cardinals, going five innings and striking out seven while giving up two hits. The Millville, Pa. native leads the Landmark in ERA (0.00), wins (4), and K/9 (12.94) and is second in strikeouts (23). It is the second player of the week award for Holdren.
Graduate student Tom Mahoney became the all-time winningest goalie in program history this past week, helping the Blue Jays to back-to-back wins over Moravian. Mahoney registered his 33rd and 34th win this past week, moving him past Brendan Corcoran '12 for first place in program history. The Hillsborough, New Jersey native finished the week with 21 total saves, a 56.8 save percentage, and an 8.00 goals-against average. He is second in the conference in save percentage (62.5%) and goals-against average (7.95). It is the seventh time Mahoney has been named defensive player of the week.
Junior Alex Kilgour finished the week with a team-high eight points, helping the Blue Jays to back-to-back wins over Moravian. The York, Pa. native registered six goals and two assists over the two games, tying him for the team lead in goals scored. Kilgour assisted the game-winner in Etown's 14-13 win over the Greyhounds on Wednesday and then recorded his second hat trick of the week against Moravian on Saturday with three goals and one assist. It is Kilgour's first time being named offensive player of the week.
Men's lacrosse will host Susquehanna on Wednesday, April 21, at 4 p.m. on Wolf Field. Baseball is off this week and will be back in action on Saturday, May 1 when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to take on Moravian.
