Anderson sets facility steeple record, women's track & field places second at Landmark Championships

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's track and field team ended Sunday with 16 medals over the course of the weekend at the 2018 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships and placed second behind Moravian with 173 points. Maria Anderson won the steeplechase in a close finish and set a new facility record. The women's 4x400m relay also won for the Blue Jays.

SUNDAY'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS
-Maria Anderson broke an 11-year-old facility record in the steeplechase by 27 seconds and won gold by .46s.
-Anderson also set a new PR in the 400m hurdles.
-E-town had three athletes reach the podium in the 5,000m and triple jump.
-Alexis Groce won three medals (gold, 2 bronze) between two individual events and one relay.
-Lia Chak, Alyssa Taylor, Jordan Sobolesky, Sarah Fake, and the 4x100m all had top-ten performances in their respective events.

-Maria Anderson's time of 1:11.56 in the 400m hurdles final was a PR and improved her sixth-place standing all-time.
-Alyssa Taylor's time of 12:30.10 in the 3,000m steeplechase final is ninth-fastest all-time.
-The 4x100m relay's time of 50.92 in the final is tied for ninth all-time.
-Jordan Sobolesky's mark of 10.15m (33'3-3/4") in the triple jump is tenth all-time.
-Sarah Fake's mark of 35.82m (117'6") in the javelin moved her from fifth to fourth all-time.

-Moravian's Carly Donaski's time of 2:14.62 in the 800m set a new facility record, breaking Elizabethtown's Katie Garner's previous record of 2:15.36 set on May 18, 2005.
-Elizabethtown's Maria Anderson's time of 11:12.16 in the 3,000m steeplechase set a new facility record, breaking Susquehanna's Heather Matta's previous record of 11:39.55 set on May 4, 2007.
-Catholic's Andrea Galeano's mark of 46.64m (153'0") in the hammer set a new facility record, breaking DeSales' Meghan Weber's previous record of 44.47m (145'11") set on May 2, 2009.
