Kelty Oaster Outdoor Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year 2025

Oaster picked USTFCCCA Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS -- Kelty Oaster was named the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) Div. III Mid-Atlantic Region Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year on Friday.

Oaster's outdoor season went very similarly to how her indoor season went. She posted numerous school and conference records on her way to qualifying for the outdoor national championships a year after finishing as an All-American.

Oaster took the second auto qualifying spot in her preliminary race to advance to the 800-meter final. After getting caught in the back early on, Oaster worked her way to the front by the final lap, closed the gap with the leader at the time, and was able to outlean Rochester's Megan Bell at the line to win her second national championship in as many races in 2025.

Her winning margin of .02 tied for the closest national championship race over the past 29 years in the women's 800 meters.

Like indoors when she was named the regional track athlete of the year, Oaster was recognized as such for the outdoor season. She was the second-ranked runner in the Mid-Atlantic in the 400 meters, 800 meters, and 1500 meters this past outdoor season and now ranks as the sixth fastest Division III women's 800-meter runner after her 2:05.09 in the championship final.
