Open ResultsPRINCETON, N.J. — In a field containing several regional Division III schools and a host of Division I talent, the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team ran strong Saturday at the 2014 Princeton Invitational. The Blue Jays took a top-ten team finish, while
Dan Gresh led the way, registering a top-20 individual finish. E-town was eighth overall in the team standings with 258 points.
A top runner all season long for Elizabethtown, Gresh was again under 26 minutes in an 8,000-meter race for the second consecutive meet after having not made under that mark in his previous three years. Gresh was 16th overall, his third top-20 finish and fifth time in the top 25. His finishing time was 25:43.
Sam Cooper wasn't far off his personal best (eight seconds) at that distance, running 26:22 to place 49th overall and score 28 points for E-town. It was Cooper's third race in the top 50.
Adam Harriger,
Keegan McDonough, and
Andrew Lesko were the other three Blue Jay runners to score for Elizabethtown. All three finished within seven seconds of each other. Harriger was 123rd in 27:17, McDonough was 125th in 27:20, and Lesko rounded out the top five for EC with a 129th-place finish in 27:24.
The University of Pennsylvania finished as the top team with a meet-low 32 points. E-town was the fourth-best Division III team at the meet in the open race, finishing behind TCNJ, Ramapo, and Haverford.
The men's cross country team will compete in its final regular season meet, the Lebanon Valley JV Meet, on Friday, October 24 at 4:30 p.m.
