Hepler Plays Hero in Blue Jays' Win Over Wolves

READING, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team earned its first road win of the season, topping Alvernia, 1-0, Thursday evening in non-conference action.

With the win the Blue Jays improve to 3-1 on the season while the Wolves drop their first game of the season and move to 3-1.

Junior Ryan Hepler tallied his second game-winning goal of the season to pace Etown. Sophomore Andy Raab recorded his first collegiate assist in the win.

The Blue Jays found the back of the net in the 15th minute as Raab found space on the right side and sent a curling service into the box. Hepler rose up at the penalty spot and flicked the cross to the far corner for the one goal advantage.

Etown battled the rest of the way, turning away seven shots on goal to score its second shutout of the season, 1-0.

Junior Ethan Higgins (1-0) earned his first career shutout in his first collegiate start, racking up seven saves. Junior Ben Solsky (3-1) made two saves, allowing the lone goal.

The Blue Jays are back in action on Saturday, September 18 at Arcadia. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
