KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior
Lydia Lawson added to her long list of accolades from the 2019 women's soccer season, earning Second Team United Soccer Coaches (USC) Women's Scholar All-America honors, announced by the organization Wednesday afternoon.
After becoming the first player in program history be named to the USC (formerly NSCAA) Women's Scholar All-Region First Team earlier this week, Lawson is now the only player in team history to be named a Scholar All-American by the USC.
An Occupational Therapy major, Lawson completed her final season becoming the fifth All-American in program history. She also earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors; only the 37
th time an Elizabethtown athlete has been acknowledged by the organization.
Lawson is the only selection from the Landmark. She joins Laura Wingert (2011, 2012), Jess Manchak (2012) and Lauren Berry (2014) as the only Scholar All-Region selections from the Elizabethtown women's soccer program.
To be eligible for Scholar All-Region recognition, student-athletes must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA or better throughout career, started more 50 percent of all game significantly contribute to their team, nominated by head coach or current College Service member institution and be a junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in a second year at school.
Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 at the Baltimore Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
