McNamee wins 5k, women's track & field begins outdoor season at W&L Carnival

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior Brenna McNamee won the last 5,000-meter race she ran indoors and on Friday she started her outdoor season with a 5k win on day one of the W&L Carnival. Five members of the Elizabethtown College women's track and field team finished in the top ten for the Blue Jays on Friday.

FRIDAY'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Brenna McNamee won the 5,000m, 31 seconds faster then the second-place finisher, and set a new PR and moved up the all-time list in the process.
- Colleen Kernan was sixth in the same race.
- Justine Itterly placed sixth in the 10k.
- Alexa Feduchak had a pair of top-ten finishes in the throws (hammer, discus).
- Abby Drumheller was tenth in the hammer.

TOP TEN MEET PERFORMANCES
1st place: Brenna McNamee (17:51.67, 5,000m)
6th place: Colleen Kernan (18:34.35, 5,000m), Justine Itterly (45:03.43, 10,000m), Alexa Feduchak (36.22m, hammer)
10th place: Alexa Feduchak (30.18m, discus), Abby Drumheller (33.49m, hammer)

TOP TEN ALL-TIME PERFORMANCES
- Brenna McNamee's 5,000-meter time of 17:51.67 was her first time outdoors cracking 18 minutes and moved her from eighth to seventh on the all-time list.

The women's track and field team will conclude opening weekend with day two of the W&L Carnival, which continues tomorrow at 11 a.m.
