Feduchak wins weight throw at second straight meet

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall College hosted a smaller meet on Friday and the Elizabethtown College women's track and field team was represented at the Mini-Dip Invitational by a handful of its field event athletes. Alexa Feduchak won the weight throw, the second straight meet she has done so.

For the second time in a week's time, Feduchak found herself at the top of the final weight throw results. The senior made her way to the finals of the event Friday evening and hoisted several throws that broke the 14.00m mark. Her previous PR was 13.74m and her winning toss last week at Susquehanna's Orange & Maroon Classic was 13.40m. Feduchak's mark of 14.43m (47'4-1/4") moved her closer to Amanda Porter's school record of 14.62m. With one throw, Feduchak nearly added a whole meter to her season's best coming in, which was 13.48m. Abby Drumheller was fifth in the weight throw at 12.15m (39'10-1/2").

Elizabethtown's throwing depth was also on display at the meet. Five were entered in the shot put and three made the final. Leah Gamber had the best toss in the shot put for the Blue Jays and finished second at 11.57m (37'11-1/2"), just shy of her PR (11.61m). Drumheller was fifth at 10.40m (34'1-1/2"), which was a new PR and moved her into ninth place all-time. Nicole Boyd also set a new PR and threw over 10' indoors for the first time. She hit 10.18m (33'4-3/4") and took sixth.

The Blue Jays have four of the top ten best throws in the shot put in the Landmark Conference, but more importantly, three of the top six. The top six throws earn a spot on the podium at the indoor championship meet.

E-town also has numbers in the pole vault and all four vaulters placed at the meet. Natalie Nye was the runner-up at 2.74m (8'11-3/4"), Paiton Kelly placed fourth at 2.60m (8'6-1/4"), Karly Deam was fifth, and Danielle Zahn was seventh at 2.44m (8'0").

Katie Snyder finished fifth in the high jump at 1.35m (4'5").

The women's track and field team will be at the Seamus McElligott Invitational tomorrow at Haverford College. The meet begins at 11:30 a.m.
