Women's tennis falls to Milligan

Results

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Elizabethtown was competitive in almost every match Wednesday, but it wasn't quite enough in a 6-3 loss to NAIA member Milligan (Tenn.) at the Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort.

Sophomore Meghan Chemidlin was the lone Blue Jay to go unbeaten against the Buffaloes. Chemidlin and Madison McCall worked past Minda Martin and Brenna Ketron 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, before Chemidlin took care of Ketron 6-1, 6-3 in their No. 4 singles match.

Fellow sophomore Amber Burd took home a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Kaylee Beaudoin at No. 5 singles.

Milligan (4-5), a first time opponent for E-town (1-2), won a close No. 1 doubles match 8-6 and carried a 2-1 lead to singles on the strength of an 8-4 victory at No. 3. The Buffs were winners at Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 6 singles.

The Blue Jays continue their Spring Break trip Thursday against Wilkes at 8:30 a.m.
