Four softball players named NFCA Scholar Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Kent. -- Four players from this past season's Elizabethtown College softball team were named Easton/NFCA NCAA Division III Scholar-Athletes earlier this week in a release from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

A record 7,365 softball players across seven membership division earned the distinction of NFCA Scholar-Athletes for the 2016-17 academic year.

NCAA Division I led the way with 1,843 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher, while 1,825 in Division III garnered recognition followed by 1,267 Division II student-athletes. High School weighted and High School unweighted posted 751 and 624 honorees apiece. NAIA amassed 559 recipients and Junior College totaled 496.

For Elizabethtown, Kirstin Blass was recognized for the second consecutive year as a scholar-athlete. Earning their first honor were Jess Kutteroff, Mara Rhodes, and Alyssa Wilkinson.
