ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown will defend its Landmark Conference crown and attempt to win its seventh consecutive conference championship Saturday when it plays host to third-seeded Juniata at the Alumni Courts.

The top-seeded Blue Jays, winners of 47 consecutive regular season conference matches and 13 straight conference postseason matches, moved through to the final with a 5-1 win over Catholic in the semifinals Tuesday. Juniata, nine days removed from falling to Scranton, 7-2, in its regular season finale, upset the second-seeded Royals, 5-3, in the other semifinal.

The regular season matchup between Elizabethtown (14-3) and Juniata (11-8) was extremely close back on April 15. The Jays emerged with a 5-4 win, their smallest margin of victory in seven regular season conference matches. E-town won first and second doubles and split singles with the Eagles, claiming points at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5.

Juniata, guided by first-year coach Robert Morris, packs some punch throughout its lineup. Lauren Lucas has gone 12-7 at first singles, including 7-0 in league play, as a freshman. Lucas has also teamed with Nora Tsai to post a 7-0 mark at No. 3 doubles. Tori Gray is a 10-match winner for the Eagles, while Rachel Yurchisin was an All-Landmark Second Team Doubles selection in 2015.

Elizabethtown is 9-2 in 11 conference championship matches since 2004, when the Blue Jays began their historic run of success. The Blue and Gray have won 11 conference championships in program history and six in a row dating back to 2010 when they were still members of the Commonwealth Conference.

Blue Jay freshman Meghan Chemidlin (No. 5 singles) and sophomore Sam Procak (No. 4 singles) have both won 10 straight matches coming into the title match. At second doubles, Lauren Berry and Procak have claimed 10 wins in a row. E-town's top doubles duo of Taylor Helsel and Madison McCall lead the conference with 13 victories.

The 2016 Landmark Conference champion will earn the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament. The national tournament begins next weekend.
