Women's tennis sweeps Goucher

TOWSON, Md. – Elizabethtown College women's tennis won its 10th straight Landmark Conference regular season match Wednesday with a 9-0 sweep at Goucher.

Madison McCall moved into a tie for 11th-place on the Blue Jays' career singles wins list with her 42nd and the visitors were straight set winners across the board after capturing all three doubles matches for the sixth time in 10 matches this season.

Lauren Berry and Sam Procak improved to 5-1 1on the season at No. 2 doubles with an 8-1 win over Mackenzie Donohue and Miranda Egan-Brooks.

E-town's third pairing of Meghan Chemidlin and Laura Gribble followed with an 8-3 victory and the No. 1 team of McCall and Taylor Helsel matched Berry/Procak by extending their winning streak to four matches, 8-6, against the Gophers' (3-11, 0-6 Landmark) Kirsten Cianci and Leigh Oehrig.

McCall joined Sarah Poulle and Jess Russell with 42 career victories (42-16) after defeating Cianci 6-4, 6-0. The Bath, Pa., native is three wins shy of joining 2015 graduate Kaitlyn Pellegrino in the top 10.

Helsel, who picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Oehrig at second singles, is now 9-4 on the season and needs just one win for her second straight season with double-digit singles victories.

Berry took third singles 6-3, 6-0 over Egan-Brooks and Procak topped Ali TOmasevich 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4.

Chemidlin won her team-high 11th match 6-0, 6-4 against Donohue at fifth singles, while Gribble emerged with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at sixth singles.

The Blue Jays (7-3, 3-0 Landmark), who are ranked 15th in the Oracle/ITA Atlantic South Region rankings, have won by 9-0 scores in five of their 10 regular season conference matches since joining the Landmark prior to the 2014-15 season.

E-town takes on Juniata Friday at 2:45 p.m., in a Landmark match rescheduled from last Saturday. Friday's originally scheduled match with Salisbury has been postponed, but no makeup date has been announced.
