Women's tennis doubles up Shepherd

Results

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Elizabethtown won 2-of-3 doubles matches and showed off its depth in singles to pick up a 6-3 road win over NCAA Division II Shepherd Sunday.

Taylor Helsel and Lenea Riehl, playing at No. 1 doubles, put forth a commanding performance, defeating the Rams' (2-7) Alisha Adkins and Zoie O'Neal, 8-1.

The Blue Jays (1-0) built on their top pairing's win, getting an 8-6 win at No. 2 from Madison McCall and Sam Procak, before the hosts won No. 3 by the same score.

Elizabethtown won the bottom four flights in singles to close their fall season.

McCall pulled within nine wins of 100 for her career between singles and doubles by defeating O'Neal 6-3, 6-1 at third singles.

At No. 4, Procak was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Zoe Nicewander, while No. 5 Meghan Chemidlin bested Anna Bock 6-1, 7-5.

Freshman Breanna Titi blew past Olivia Scott at sixth singles 6-2, 6-1.

The Blue Jays will resume play during their traditional competition season in the spring of 2017.
