Waso Landmark Athlete of the Week for second time this season

TOWSON, Md. -- Elizabethtown College men's soccer sophomore forward Gilbert Waso was named Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, Monday, for the second time this season. Waso compiled back-to-back two-goal games and nine points as the Blue Jays defeated conference foes Moravian and Catholic last week.

In last Wednesday evening's 3-0 victory at Moravian, Waso's cross from the left side in the 20th minute was knocked in by Duncan George for an early E-town lead. Waso cemented the game in the Jays' favor with goals in the 81st and 84th minutes, ending with a five-point night.

Saturday, at Catholic, the reigning Landmark Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-American, again found the back of the net twice, doing so first in the 30th minute to tie the game at one. Waso would complete a brace with his ninth goal of the season in the 72nd minute.

Waso's nine goals on the season lead the Landmark and his 20 points are tied atop the league. Waso also received the Landmark's weekly award back on Sept. 6 and overall it is the third such honor of his career.

Waso and the Blue Jays are in action Wednesday at 7 p.m., at Penn State Berks.
