Waso named Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. – A whirlwind opening week continued Monday for Elizabethtown men's soccer freshman Gilbert Waso. Fresh off a three-goal, seven-point three game stretch, Waso was named Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week.

Waso wasted no time making an impact, scoring three goals and collecting points in all three games as the Blue Jays got off to a 3-0 start.

In the opener against Penn State Harrisburg last Tuesday, Waso registered his first career point with an assist on Shane Votto's game-winning goal. The Mount Calvary Christian product also shined in the Blue Jay/Red Devil Classic over the weekend. He scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Dickinson Saturday and both E-town goals in a 2-0 victory against DeSales Sunday. Waso was named Classic Offensive MVP and totaled seven points for the week.

Waso is the first Blue Jay men's soccer player to earn a Landmark Conference weekly award and is the first E-town field player to be named conference player of the week since Luis Devia in 2013.

Elizabethtown travels to Wilkes for a 7 p.m. start tomorrow night.
