HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Elizabethtown College women's tennis, ranked 17th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South Region rankings, picked up its third straight win and remained unbeaten in Landmark play with a 7-2 victory at Juniata Monday afternoon.

The Blue Jays took an early 2-0 lead in doubles and had their way in singles, winning five of six matches.

Christine Evangelista and Kaitlyn Pellegrino continued to move up the career doubles wins list with an 8-5 decision over Heather Waring and Rachel Yurchisin at No. 1. The victory was No. 59 for Pellegrino in the pairs format, moving her into sole possession of fifth in program history, just three wins behind Emily Swarr and Madison Pipkin (62) for third. Evangelista, meanwhile, notched her 57th victory and jumped into a seventh-place tie with Jess Russell, Kristy Trimbey and Emma Smith.

At No. 3, Madison McCall and Sam Procak won their third in a row together, improving to 7-1 on the season. McCall and Procak held on, 8-5, against the Eagles' (8-5, 2-2 Landmark) Katharine Conklin and Cara Stough.

Juniata won the point at No. 2 in a closely contest match, 8-6, but Elizabethtown (8-2, 2-0 Landmark) came back strong in singles to put the match away.

Lauren Berry downed Conklin 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 to get the Jays rolling. McCall increased Elizabethtown's magic number to win the match to one when she beat Mitsuki Kohn 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4.

The No. 2 match between Pellegrino and Yurchisin had the makings of a good one. Yurchisin won the first set 6-2, but Pellegrino responded with an excellent effort to take the second 6-1. E-town's senior was up 3-0 when Yurchisin was forced to retire.

Sarah Calabro won her eighth match of the season at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-0, over Tori Gray, while Evangelista put away Waring after a drawn-out first set, 7-5, 6-1.

E-town recently entered the regional rankings on March 26 as the No. 17 team in the Atlantic South Region and has gone 2-0 since being named to the poll.

The Blue Jays are scheduled to make the trip to Selinsgrove, weather permitting, tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. to face Susquehanna.
