Volleyball cruises to win over Wilkes

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Elizabethtown volleyball enjoyed its best hitting night since Sept. 19 Friday evening as it opened the LVC Dutchmen Quad with a 3-0 sweep of Wilkes.

Janae Moran accounted for six of the Blue Jays' (15-12) nine service aces while adding nine kills. Fellow freshmen Mackenzie Garner (11 kills) and Sarah Schneider (seven kills) did their part to help the offense hit .225 (37 kills-14 errors-102 attempts), while the Lady Colonels (12-19) attacked at only a .090 (31-22-100) clip.

E-town put Wilkes down early with a 25-16 win in the first set, though its best attacking set came in the second. Moran and Garner had four kills apiece and the Jays finished with 13 in the set as they hit .273 in a 25-19 victory. Wilkes tried to mount a comeback in the third, but it fell short and Elizabethtown completed the sweep 25-21.

Senior setter Steph High amassed 28 assists and five digs, while libero Shannon Deck was the only E-town player to record double-digit digs with 12.

The Blue Jays got four kills and a solo block from Victoria Leidy. Megan McNaul and Emily Sexton had two kills each.

Wilkes received nine kills and nine digs from Ally Paskas.

Elizabethtown returns to Lebanon Valley tomorrow morning to face the host Dutchmen at 10 a.m. They'll wrap up the weekend with a match against Montclair State at 2 p.m.
