CASTILE, N.Y. — It's getting to be crunch time for the Elizabethtown College women's cross country, now just a few weeks away from its first-ever Landmark Conference Championship meet. On Saturday, the Blue Jays competed at the Geneseo Invitational and took fifth of 19 in the team standings with 146 points.
Amelia Tearnan was the top individual finisher for EC.
Tearnan, one of E-town's senior leaders, finished two seconds shy of her best 6k time. She ran 22:28.8 to take 19th overall, right behind Jessica Curry of DeSales. For Tearnan, it was her fourth top-30 performance of the season and third in the top 20.
Amanda Kerno and
Lydia Dearie, the Jays' second and third-best runners on the day, have also performed on a consistent basis during the season. Kerno ran 22:38.3, good for 23rd. Dearie, a former Landmark Conference Athlete of Week recently, was three seconds behind in her first 6k at 22:41.6.
Megan Tursi was 39th overall in 23:01.6 and
Casey Quinto rounded out the top five for E-town in 54th with a new 6,000-meter PR of 23:14.1.
