Senior forward Taylor Kreider became the 24th player in women's basketball program history to record 1,000 career points when she hit the mark in the first half of her team's 80-31 victory over Arcadia last Monday.
Kreider, named Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week Monday, averaged 17.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in three games last week -all E-town wins. One part of Kreider's game usually overlooked is her passing. She tallied 19 assists (6.3 per game) and finished two dimes shy of a triple-double against Arcadia.
Kreider accomplished her journey to 1,000 points in less than three full seasons with the team after spending her freshman year at another institution. The Willow Street native scored her 1,000th point on a layup off an inbounds pass with 14:22 remaining in the first half.
In a critical road game at Widener on Wednesday, Kreider missed another double-double by a single rebound, finishing the 60-53 win having shot six of ten from the floor (60.0 percent) for 13 points and hauling down nine boards.
She concluded her stellar three-game stretch with a 19-point, 12-rebound effort on Senior Day against Hood. The Blue Jays won 74-55 to move into a first-place tie in the Commonwealth Conference after beginning the week in fourth.
