Junior point guard Phil Wenger completed a strong week with a career game Saturday in an 85-81 win over Gwynedd Mercy.
Wenger scored a career-high 28 points and tied a career-high with seven assists, while also coming up with five steals to help the Jays defeat the Griffins. Wenger was ultra-efficient, going 8-of-10 from the floor, 2-of-2 from 3-point range and 10-of-13 at the charity stripe.
In a mid-week loss to Eastern Mennonite, Wenger produced five assists, five boards and five points. In addition to averaging 16.5 points per game for the week, the Lancaster native had a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio. He leads the team in assists (23) and steals (14) this season.
