Junior Becki Lane broke the school's 50-yard freestyle record for the second time this season Friday at the MAC Swimming Championships and later placed an All-MAC Second Team fifth in finals.
Lane swam 24.74 in the 50 free preliminaries, cutting two tenths off her season-best, set back on Nov. 23 at Albright. The previous time of 24.94 already stood as a school record. The time Friday placed the Branchburg, N.J., native fourth overall out of 41 entries heading into the finals, exactly where she was ranked coming into the event.
Lane was just a tick slower in the final, timing in with a 24.84, to finish fifth.
The all-conference individual finish is a first for an Elizabethtown swimmer since Abby Mitchell took fourth in the 200 fly at the 2012 championships.
