LANCASTER, Pa.— Cory Rible of the Elizabethtown College baseball team struck out four in three innings to help the Blue Jays advance on to tomorrow's Landmark Conference Championship after defeating Susquehanna, 6-5 in 11 innings.
The Blue Jays pitching staff totaled 10 strikeouts.
David Woolley went 2-4 with two runs and two walks.
Nick Fiorini went 2-4 with a run and a RBI.
Alex Perrin went 2-5 with two RBI.
Susquehanna struck first, scoring three runs in the first inning. Etown cut the deficit to one after Perrin hit a two-RBI double to left center. The River Hawks added two more runs to take a 5-2 lead. The Blue Jays once again came back within one in the following inning. Fiorini led off the third with a walk and advanced on
Alex McClain's single. On a sacrifice fly, Fiorini scored. After reaching on a fielder's choice,
Parker Summers scored on
Jake Ruple's single.
Etown tied up the game in the fourth inning on
Mason Woolwine's sacrifice fly. The game was scoreless for the next several innings to force extras. In the 11
th, Woolley reached first via a walk and advanced on a passed ball. Another sacrifice by Woolwine put Woolley on third. Fiorini knocked a single up the middle to bring home Woolley which was enough for an Etown win.
Etown will face Scranton in the Landmark Conference Championship game tomorrow at 11 am. The Blue Jays must win two games to earn the title.
