ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team won big on Sunday as they swept Moravian to open up the three-game conference series. Etown won game one 14-4 in eight innings before downing the Greyhounds, 12-7 in game two.
The Blue Jays 10 runs in the seventh inning of game two is the most for the team since last season when Etown scored 10 runs in the 7
th inning vs. Lycoming at Landmark Conference Championships.
GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 14, MORAVIAN 4 (F/8)
Joey Smith earned his first win of the season on the mound tying a career-high five strikeouts.
Mason Woolwine went 3-4 with a run and a career-high six RBIs.
Nick Fiorini and
Alex McClain both went 2-4 with a home run.
Moravian stuck first scoring two runs in the first. Etown got on the scoreboard in the third cutting the Greyhounds lead to 2-1. The Blue Jays led 4-2 in the fourth as Woolwine hit a bases clearing double.
In the fifth, McClain led off the inning with a solo home run to bring Etown's lead to 5-2. With one out,
Sawyer Martin and
Jake Ruple each hit a single to get on base.
Griffin Patridge drew a walk to load the bases before Martin scored on a fielder's choice. Etown tacked on another run in the sixth off a McClain double.
The Blue Jays put four more runs on two hits on the board in the seventh as Fiorini ended the inning with his fourth home run of the season. After the seventh inning, Etown led 11-2. In the eighth, the Greyhounds scored two more runs Etown added three more to end the game in eight innings.
GAME 2: ELIZABETHOWN 12 MORAVIAN 7
Justin Marraccini pitched 5.2 innings to record a career-high eight strikeouts.
Jon Oxendine earned the win on the mound. Fiorini went 3-4 with five RBIs and a double.

Tommy Kanakos, and
Parker Summers each totaled two hits.
To start game two, Moravian scored the first run of the game in the first. Etown evened the score at 1-1 in the second. The Greyhounds then responded in the third to retake the lead, 2-1. The Blue Jays once again tied up the score 2-2 after Fiorini's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
Moravian gained momentum in the sixth scoring four runs on five hits to take a 6-2 lead. Down four runs, the Blue Jay bats exploded in seventh scoring 10 runs on seven hits to double their lead, 12-6. Etown allowed one final Moravian run scored on a walk, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Jays won, 12-7.
Etown will host Moravian tomorrow at 3:30 pm for the final game of the regular season.
