Burns Records 100th Career Strikeout as Blue Jay Bats Explode vs. Moravian

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown College baseball team closed out the regular season with one for the record books as the Blue Jays defeated Moravian, 29-3 on 26 hits.

Etown's 29 runs are the team's most since 2009 when the Blue Jays scored 34 runs on 26 hits against Mass. Maritime over spring break.

Etown was also hit by a pitch 11 times today and eight Blue Jays recorded two or more hits.

Logan Burns earned the win on the mound and recorded his 100th career strikeout.

Etown was quick to get started as they scored five runs in the first inning. At the top of the second Moravian cut the Blue Jays lead to 5-3 before Alex McClain smacked a two-run home  run in the bottom half of the inning. After two innings, Etown led 7-3.

In the third the Blue Jays tacked on four more runs on Nick Fiorini's, AJ Lipscomb's, and Tommy Kanakos singles. Jake Ruple ended the inning with a double to score Lipscomb to bring the score to 12-3. The Blue Jay bats stayed ignited as Fiorini, McClain, and Lipscomb hit RBI singles to bring in three more runs. With the bases loaded, Etown scored run number 16 off a hit by pitch.

In the fifth, two walks and a hit by pitch loaded the bases. Another hit by pitch brought across another run as Etown led, 17-3. Josh Houston and Parker Summers each hit a RBI single to add two more runs in the inning. The Moravian pitching staff continued to struggle as they gave up 10 runs on five hits in the sixth inning to Etown. The Blue Jays were hit six times in the sixth inning.

Etown clinches a spot in the Landmark Conference Tournament.
