ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- After dropping Saturday's doubleheader to Susquehanna, the Elizabethtown College baseball team was able to get the series finale late against the River Hawks and claim a 6-5 win in the third game.
Alex Perrin collected his 100th career hit in the win and
Cory Rible earned his fourth save of the season.
Susquehanna led by a run after the first, but the Blue Jays tied it on
Jake Ruple's solo home run to left field.
The game was quiet until the sixth when Ruple gave Elizabethtown a one-run lead with a RBI sac fly to center to score
Tommy Kanakos from third.
The River Hawks put up fourth in the eighth inning and seemed poised for a series sweep, but Etown had other ideas.
Sunday featured the latest in the late-inning dramatics the Jays have used this season. Proving they're never out of it, Ruple started off the four-run rally in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI single down the right field line, his third RBI of the game.
Parker Summers got EC within a run after his RBI single to left center. Perrin, who reached 100 hits with his single through the left side in the fourth inning, tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI double to left center as Ruple came home safely.
Nick Fiorini then drew a bases loaded walk on a full count to put Elizabethtown in front, 6-5.
Rible took over for
Caeden Schulte, who would end up getting the win and improved to 3-0. Rible retired the side in order with a ground out, fly out and pop up to end the game.
Etown moved to 12-9 in the conference with the win and 22-12 overall. They host Widener on Tuesday, April 21, at 3:30 p.m.
