HUNTINGDON, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team held off Juniata in 10 innings as the Blue Jays scored three runs to sweep the series.
David Woolley tied the Landmark Conference career hits (238) record as he went 3 for 6 with three runs, and a triple.
Alex McClain went 4 for 5 with two runs, two RBIs, and a home run.
Justin Marraccini recorded four strikeouts while
Cory Rible earned the win and struck out three.
After a scoreless first inning, McClain led off the second with his team leading sixth home run of the season. After an Etown sacrifice fly in the third, Juniata tied up the game in the bottom of the third. The Blue Jays retook the lead fourth before the Eagles responded again to take a 4-3 lead.
In the fifth, a sacrifice fly to left field by Etown evened the score at 4-4. The Eagles added two runs in the fifth off a home run.
AJ Lipscomb's and
Nate Moser recorded RBIs in the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game, 6-6. Juniata scored their final run in the seventh.
The Blue Jays again evened the score in the ninth which would ultimately force an extra inning. With two outs, Woolley started off the hitting for Etown in the 10
th inning.
Charlie Sheerer and McClain each added an RBI to score two. Sheerer went on to score on an error to secure the Blue Jays 10-7 win.
Etown travels to Catholic on Tuesday to finish off their conference series.
