HUNTINGDON, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team avenged their Landmark First Round loss from last season as the Blue Jays defeated the Eagles, 17-8.
Megan Meyer and
Ella Scholes both surpassed 100 career points in the win. Scholes tied a career-high nine points as she totaled five goals and four assists. M.Meyer recorded a hat-trick and added three assists.
Hailey Meyer totaled four goals while
Abby Bach tallied four assists.
Juniata scored the opening goal within the first minute of play. H. Meyer scored two back-to-back goals to grab a 2-1 lead over the Eagles. The Eagles evened the score at two with just over five minutes remaining in the first quarter. Etown ended the quarter with three more goals to lead, 5-2. On Etown's fifth goal, M.Meyer's assist was her 100
th career point.
The Eagles got it back within one to start the second quarter. M.Meyer and Scholes combined for the Blue Jays next two goals to extend the team's lead to 7-4. Etown rattled off the next four goals in the row before Juniata added another with just over a minute remaining. At .46, Bach found
Drew Bridges to take a 12-5 lead at halftime.
Each team scored two goals in the third quarter, but Etown still held the lead at 14-7. To start the fourth quarter, Scholes fed M.Meyer for a goal. Juniata added one final goal before Scholes and H.Meyer
tallied Etown's final two goals to win, 17-8.
Etown will travel to Scranton on Saturday.
