SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team was dealt a 19-8 road loss at 15th-ranked Scranton on Saturday.
The Blue Jays had a 2-1 lead with under 10 minutes to go in the first quarter.
Ella Scholes scored unassisted to open the game just 18 seconds in. Then,
Hailey Meyer added a goal at 9:57 to give Etown the 2-1 lead. The Royals scored five unanswered to round out the first quarter and led 6-2 going into the second.
Scranton began to pull away with a 7-2 advantage in goals in the second and led 13-4 at halftime. Meyer had her second of four goals in the game in the second while
Jordyn Hironimus scored a player up.
Megan Meyer also recorded a player up goal for the Blue Jays in the third quarter.
Drew Bridges used a Scholes' pass in the fourth to score her lone goal of the afternoon.
Hailey Meyer netted her final two of the game in the final seven minutes of play. She had a team-high four points.
Elizabethtown hosts Lycoming at 5 p.m. on Good Friday, April 3, which will also be Senior Day for the women's lacrosse team.
