WASHINGTON, DC.—The Elizabethtown baseball team moved to 4-0 in Landmark Conference play as they took game one from Catholic winning, 6-2.
Jake Ruple went 1 for 5 with three RBIs and his first career home run.
Alex Perrin went 2 for 2 with a run.
Nick Fiorini went 2 for 4 with a run and a RBI.
David Woolley went 2 for 3 with a run.
After a scoreless first inning, with one on base Ruple knocked a two-run home run to left center. Etown added a third run in the third via a sacrifice fly. The Blue Jays extended their lead to 6-0 in the fourth. Two of the Blue Jays three runs in the inning occurred on a sacrifice fly to extend their lead to 5-0.
Mason Woolwine reached put down a successful bunt to reach first and then stole second.
Woolwine crossed home on Fiorini's single for Etown's sixth and final run.
The Cardinals scored a run in the fourth and then another run in the seventh.
The Etown pitching crew combined for nine strikeouts with
Lucas Scheib earning the win on the mound.
Etown will travel to Drew for a three-game series starting on Saturday at 12 pm.
