Drew Bats get the Best of the Blue Jays

MADISON, NJ.— The Elizabethtown baseball team dropped their first Landmark Conference games of the season as Drew took both games, 13-3 and 8-7.

GAME 1: DREW 13, ELIZABETHTOWN 3 (F/7)
Alex McClain went 2-4 with a run, an RBI, and a home run. Jake Ruple went 2-4 with two runs, an RBI, and a home run. David Woolley went 2-4 with an RBI, and a double.

Drew's bats got hot early scoring four runs in the first which included a two-run homer. Etown scored their first run in the second off a ground out to second base. A solo home run in the second put the Rangers up 5-1 and then extended their lead to 8-1 after three innings. Drew tacked on four more runs in the next two innings to lead, 12-1.

In the sixth, Etown added two more runs but the Blue Jays could not make a comeback as Drew won, 14-3 in seven innings.

GAME 2: DREW 8, ELIZABETHTOWN 7
McClain went 2-5 with two runs, two RBIs, and a home run. Tommy Kanakos went 2-4 with a run and an RBI. Logan Burns recorded six strikeouts on the mound.

McClain put the Blue Jays on the board first with a two-run homer in the second inning. In the third, Mason Woolwine reached first on an error and then on Sawyer Martin's double Woolwine crossed home. The Rangers got back a run in the bottom half of the inning.

The Blue Jays extended their lead to 4-1 in the top of the sixth before Drew came back to tie up the game at 4-4. McClain scored via a sacrifice fly in the sixth. In the seventh, Nick Fiorini singled up the middle to bring home Woolwine for Etown's fifth run.

Etown got things going in the eighth to extend their lead to 7-4  after Kanakos and Woolwine each recorded an RBI. In the top of the eighth, Drew took over with an 8-7 lead to grab the win.

Etown returns to Drew tomorrow to finish out the series at 12 pm.
