ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team downed visiting Wilson, 18-2 on a cold evening on Wolf Field.
Ella Scholes led the game with four goals while
Abby Bach tallied six assists.
Hailey Meyer and
Kendall Ulmer each recorded a hat-trick.
Morgan Echeverria scored her first goal of the season.
Elizabethtown quickly went up 8-0 after the first quarter. Bach and
Drew Bridges opened up the scoring for the Blue Jays within the first minute of play. With just under a minute remaining, Ulmer scored her first goal of the game via a free-position opportunity. Wilson's defense grew stronger in the second quarter as they held the Blue Jays to just one goal. At 4:26, the Phoenix scored their first goal of the game before Bach found Ulmer for Etown's ninth goal. The Blue Jays went into halftime up, 9-1.
Etown quickly gained their momentum back at the start of the third quarter. Scholes and
Megan Meyer both recorded goals less than a minute apart to start the quarter. Etown rattled off four more goals to extend their lead to 15-1 before Wilson recorded their second goal of the game. Scholes closed out the third quarter with a goal with just 20 seconds remaining.
Midway through the fourth quarter
Alyssa Golombeck recorded Etown's 17
th goal. At the 5:54 mark, H.Meyer found the back of the net for an unassisted goal to end the Blue Jays scoring.
Etown will open Landmark Conference play Saturday vs. Susquehanna at home.
