Baseball Sweeps Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team opened up Landmark Conference play by completing the opening series sweep against the Warriors. The Blue Jays won game two, 4-3 before taking game three, 9-3.

GAME TWO: LYCOMING 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 4
Parker Summers went 2 for 4 and Tommy Kanakos went 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Logan Burns earned the win on the mound tallying five strikeouts.

Lycoming grabbed the first run of the game in the first inning before Etown took a 2-1 lead in the second. Alex McClain doubled and then scored via Jake Ruple's single through the left side.  On a sacrifice fly, Ruple scored the Jays second run.

Etown doubled their lead to 4-2 in the third after Kanakos' two-RBI single up the middle. Lycoming scored a run in the third to come within one and then added another run in the eighth, but it wasn't enough as Etown won, 4-3.

GAME 3: LYCOMING 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 9
To start off the final game, Lycoming once again grabbed an early lead. The Warriors led, 3-0 after the second inning. The Blue Jays cut Lycoming's lead in the fourth after they totaled two runs. In the seventh the Jays tied up the game 3-3. Griffin Patridge was hit by pitch to lead off the inning. On a ground out, Patridge advanced to second and then scored via AJ Lipscomb's single to right center.

Etown was able to hold on through the next several innings. In the ninth inning, Etown scored six runs on three hits to secure the team's 9-3 win. With the bases loaded, Lipscomb hit a single to center field to score one. The Blue Jays scored their fifth run of the game on a ground out to second. With the bases loaded again, Nick Fiorini hit a grand slam to center field.

Etown faces Catholic on March 17.
