ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—Five from the Elizabethtown men's basketball team recorded double figures as the Blue Jays defeated Drew, 98-93.
Austin Finarelli led the way with 28 points and seven assists.
Woody Machado recorded a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
EJ Finney totaled 14 points going 6 for 8 from the field. Reese
Ziegler totaled 13 points going 11 for 12 from the foul line and
Anthony Lilly totaled 11 points.
Following an early Etown foul in the first half, the Blue Jays got off to a hot start jumping out to a 14-4 lead. After going basket for basket midway through the half a Finney layup brought the score to 25-18. Two back-to-back three's from Finney almost doubled the Jays lead to 33-24. A layup from Machado put Etown up by 10 with 7:36 to go in the half.
Ben Stanton sunk two 3-pointers within two minutes of one another to put the Blue Jays up, 46-32. Etown would hold onto the lead through the end of the half ending on a Finarelli buzzer beater three. Going into the locker rooms, Etown led 54-43.
The Blue Jays started off strong in the second with a three from Lilly opening up the scoring. Several layups from Finarelli, Machado along with three's from
Zuri Harris extended the Jays lead to 72-53. Minutes later a Finarelli layup brought the team's lead up by 20-points. In the final nine minutes of the game the Rangers began to chip away at Etown's lead. Drew came as close as one point to Etown but four Ziegler free-throws put Etown on top 98-93.
Etown travels to Scranton on Saturday at 1 pm.
