SCRANTON, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's basketball defeated their second Landmark opponent this week who is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Poll. The Blue Jays defeated Scranton 79-72 for an important win.
Austin Finarelli led the game with 24 points going 8 for 16 from the field.
Zuri Harris picked up 15 points from the bench while
Woody Machado totaled 14 points.
EJ Finney recorded a career-high 11 assists.
Five minutes into the first half, a good jumper from Finarelli tied up the game at 10-10. Minutes later Scranton began to pull away as they led, 17-12. Midway through the half, Harris tied up the game with a layup. The Royals would go on to extend their lead to 11 before two back-to-back Blue Jays three's cut their lead to five. A Royals layup at the buzzer left Etown trailing, 39-42 at halftime.
Etown shot .566 from the field in the first half.
Etown started off the second half on a 7-0 run to grab a 46-42 lead. After some back-n-forth, Scranton tied up the game at 52-52 at the 14
th minute mark. Layups from
Crew Wells and Harris put the Jays ahead by seven with just over 10 minutes remaining. Two 3-pointers in a row from Harris extended Etown's lead to 70-58. The Royals came back within seven but were unable to fully close the gap as the Blue Jays won, 79-72.
Etown will host Juniata on Wednesday.
