GRANTHAM, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team opened up CVC play with #9 Southern Virginia. The Blue Jays fell 0-3. Set scores were 20-25, 19-25, 23-25.
Patrick Neyer totaled 18 assists while
Dustin Hagin grabbed seven digs.
Mason Boyer and
Braydon Ambruster totaled eight kills each.
The two teams started off the first set trading points. Following a kill from
Arun Gopinath, Etown led 9-7. SVU then pulled ahead 13-10 after a 6-1 run. Etown came back within two points of the Knights before an SVU kill put then up, 21-16. The Knights took the set 25-20.
Southern Virginia jumped out to an 8-4 lead in set two. The Knights continued to hold the lead as they held a four-point lead. SVU gained momentum and led 19-13 which helped them then secure the 25-19 win.
The Blue Jays started strong in set three. Following a kill from Ambruster and Boyer Etown led, 7-4. After some back-n-forth, a 3-0 run from the Knights put them up 14-13. The Blue Jays then retook the lead before SVU led 21-18. The two kept it close till the end but Southern Virginia came out on top, 25-23.
Etown will travel to Widener on Thursday.
