WASHINGTON, DC.—The Elizabethtown men's basketball team fell short, 71-68 at Catholic on Wednesday night.
Austin Finarelli led the team with 16 points and four rebounds.
EJ Finney totaled 15 points, five rebounds, and five steals.
Anthony Lilly totaled 13 points going 5 for 9 from the field.
Catholic started off the first half with a 12-4 lead and led until 7:21 when
Ben Stanton tied up the game at 21-21 with a three. A three from
Augie Brody followed by a jumper from Lilly put Etown up, 26-24. After tying up the game at 26-26 with just under five minutes left the Cardinals regained the lead and took that into halftime with a 37-30 lead.
Several buckets to start the second half from Lilly and Finney put Etown ahead, 43-38. Midway through the half the Blue Jays continued to hold the lead following a three from Finney. After Catholic tied up the game at 50-50 they managed to retain the lead in the final minutes to secure the 71-68 win over Etown.
Etown will travel to Lycoming this Saturday for their final game of the regular season.
