HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Senior
Makenna Mummert led all scorers Wednesday night at Juniata as the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team won on the road, 63-45, over the Eagles.
Cadence Anderson also recorded double figures in the victory for the Blue Jays.
Mummert had 10 of her game-high 23 points in the first quarter alone and nearly outscored Juniata by herself. The senior dropped in a pair of threes and knocked down two at the foul line. She had 10 of Etown's 16 as they led 16-13 going into the second.
Though the threes didn't fall in the second, the Jays still doubled up the Eagles in the score column 16-8, again on the back of Mummert, who led the way with seven in the second.
Allyia Kennedy,
Kiley Wilhelm,
Peyton Houlihan, and
Alex Gonzalez added points for EC, as did
Ellie Fasick at the line to close out the half. They led 32-21 at the break.
Six different players tallied for Elizabethtown in the third quarter as they maintained their double-digit lead. Mummert and Wilhelm both had four points and Etown was 8-for-14 from the field in the third.
Seven of Anderson's 10 points came in the final period as the sophomore went 3-for-3 from the floor with a three-pointer, netting half of her team's fourth-quarter points.
The Blue Jays held Juniata to just one three all night, which came in the first quarter. Etown also had 19 offensive rebounds converted into 18 second chance points.
The women's basketball team will honor their seniors ahead of Saturday's Landmark matchup with Wilkes at 4 p.m.
