BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Elizabethtown field hockey team continued their Landmark Conference winning streak as they defeat Goucher 3-2 in an away game. Hannah Long scored one and assisted two in the game while Hailey Meyer and Sara Watson each added one to secure the win for the Blue Jays.
Long got the scoring started for the Blue Jays as she scored her first of the day at the 4:27 mark. In a 1v1, Long pulled around the goalie and sent the ball into the goal to get Etown on the board.
At halftime the score was 1-0 as the Blue Jays had outshot the Gophers 7-2 with scoring opportunities coming from Long, Meyer, Meadow Keet, and Nia Mountis.
In the third quarter, Meyer got her goal off of a penalty corner. Meyer inserted the ball to Long who drove the shot in from the top of the circle. Meyer waited on the goalie's pads to tap it in. With just a few seconds left in the quarter, the Gophers scored their first goal of the game to make it 2-1 going into the fourth quarter.
The scoring continued as Etown added its third and final goal from Watson. The sophomore was in position at the post to put away the rebound after Long took the initial shot on goal. Goucher scored its second goal with only seconds remaining, but Etown held on to secure the 3-2 victory.
Etown outshot the Gophers 17-10 and had them beat in the penalty corners, 9-8.
The Blue Jays will be back in action on Wolf Field in their last regular season game at 7pm on Tuesday, October 27th against Moravian.
