ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's basketball team recorded a 56-point second half enroute to an 81-65 win over Goucher, Saturday. The 56 points are the team's most in a half this season.
Woody Machado led the game with a season-high 27 points and four three's while going 11 for 12 from the foul line.
Austin Finarelli totaled 23 points, four assists, and five steals.
EJ Finney totaled 14 points while going 4 for 5 from the arch.
Goucher started strong and led early in the first half. The Gophers went on a 10-0 run to lead, 15-8. From there the Gophers continued to extend their lead until a 6-0 run from the Blue Jays left them trailing by just three points. With just over five minutes remining Goucher gained momentum extending their lead by 14 points before leading 34-25 at halftime.
Etown went 7 for 16 in 3-pointers in the half to help them grab the win. The Blue Jays hit five three's in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Goucher struggled to get going early as the Blue Jays were able to close the game within the first three minutes of the half. A 9-0 run gave the Blue Jays a 48-39 lead after a Finarelli layup. In the 12
th minute, Finney sunk a three to double the Jays lead. Through the rest of the half Etown would never waiver and held on to the lead as they would go on to win, 81-65.
Etown will host Drew on Feb. 4.
