No. 22 Elizabethtown shoots season-best in win at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team shot a season-best on Saturday to snap a three-game winless streak as the Blue Jays beat Ursinus by 17 in non-conference action to start off the 2026 portion of the schedule. Cadence Anderson was one of four Jays in double figures as she led the way with 16 points. Ava Chapman recorded a career-high 14 off the bench.

The hot shooting was from the opening tip as Elizabethtown hit nine of the first 13 shot attempts in the first quarter and led 22-12 going into the second.

The Blue Jays would outscore the Bears in the second quarter as well and five quick points in the last 35 seconds put Etown ahead by 15 at the break. Chapman, who was 3-for-3 from three-point range, hit a three with 35 seconds before the half. Makenna Mummert's layup with nine seconds remaining made it 41-26.

Elizabethtown was 15-for-26 from the floor over the first two quarters (.577) and an efficient 4-for-6 from deep and 7-for-9 from the foul line. Allyia Kennedy added 10 first-half points.

Halftime didn't cool off the hot hands as the Jays went on a 13-2 run to start the second half and got out ahead by as many as 22 midway through the third quarter. Etown began 5-of-6 from the field including a three and a pair of makes at the free throw line. Ursinus went on a 10-0 run, but EC still led 54-43 after three.

Etown was plus-six in the fourth quarter, 23-17, and held the Bears to their season average of 60 points.

The Blue Jays ended the game 29-for-49, a 59.2 percent clip, which ranks third-best in a single game in recorded history.

Elizabethtown will host nationally-ranked Scranton in Thompson on Wednesday, January 7, at 7 p.m.
